What's the future of expandable trolleys?
The market of the expandable trolleys is not yet stable and it's still open to innovation. Our goal consist in the design of a new trolley, capable of a minimum expansion of 30% in volume.
User research
Using a form posed to hundreds of people we found extremely interesting informations about the trolley preferences and usages. The most surprising data came from the utilization of the trolley as a temporary seat.
Competitor analysis
We applied the Kano method to confront and analyze the trolleys based on two criteria: expandable trolleys and sustainable trolleys. This research allowed us to know the state-of-the-art in the trolley industry.
Concept definition
Confronting the user data to the market analysis we decided to develop an expandable trolley for the age group 44-78. We focused on the developement of 6 main features:
Usable as temporary seat
Extandable up to 30%
Made of end-of-life detachable monomateric components
Made of recilated materials
With more silent wheels
Design process
Our approach focused of a parallel research for existing case studies, new and old materials from other applications.
